We recently received a beautiful water colour of Karen’s most recent trip to Bare Needs studio in Newfoundland. Supporting her passion for art is a joy that she happily shares with others. A trip to her new studio and residence in Nova Scotia is definitely called for.

I’m a fellow artist hailing from the same country town where both Karen and I used to live.
At the time, I was also a working artist. What was remarkable is that Karen moved to the Bahamas and took up watercolour with a passion, which was greeted with enormous enthusiasm by her clients.
I loved her facility with the watercolour technique, and I have always been proud of the soft and beautiful Arctic Hare that Karen painted for me; it has graced my wall for about 43 years.
So many years later, I am excited to see the strength in colour, form, design aspects and story telling that are always part of her works.
Art like this lets you stay in touch with the lands and waters we hold dear. They stay alive. The works are not static, but flowing.
I hope you enjoy one of Karen Philips Currans’ works the way I have. All my adult life.

To say I’m the proud owner of seven of Karen’s pieces is an understatement. She is a truly gifted artist. My feeble attempt at photographing part of the collection doesn’t do it justice. She is inspired.
