Bear River is a unique place. A village that straddles two counties in Nova Scotia Canada it has no governance. Its fortunes have grown and waned over the years but the place is unique with its tidal river. The famously high Bay of Fundy tides fill and empty the riverbed twice a day. This movement creates an incredible place for wildlife like few others. Mudflats, saltwater grasses and unique habitats are created in this daily tidal push and shove. You have to see it to understand it. Folks dig for clams and fish along its banks. Waterbirds of all kinds forage on its banks.
Ahh the splash of seawater resonates. I am here in the east coast near the Bay of Fundy and I visit the Annapolis Basin frequently. The inspiration I glean from these visits sustains me.
